Day Three: Your favorite thing to do on the weekends

I work in a place that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Due to this, I have to work weekends so I am going to discuss the weekends that I am not at work.

Traditionally, on Sunday mornings I wake up at an ungodly hour to run Town Lake with my family, followed by breakfast at Panera, Starbucks or Kerbey Lane. After, there is usually a trip to Target and a nap which makes up for the early hour.

Saturdays are usually up in the air depending on what the rest of the week entailed, it could include lunch with friends, build your own bloody mary bar or kayaking.

I love Austin and I love my life here. The only thing that could make it better is if my sister was here too. I would love to be able to add “hang out with Kat” to my weekly to do list.

Day 2: The best teacher I’ve ever had

I think I am going to have to break this down into categories.

Elementary School: Mr. Edmunds was my 3rd and 4th grade teacher. He was awesome because he actually made school fun. He played folk songs on the guitar, he taught us the pledge of allegiance in sign language and he always knew how take the regular assignments and tasks and turn them into a game or competition.

Nursing School: One of my first professors in nursing school stayed one of my most trusted advisors. She was always confident in my abilities and potential. She helped me remember why I was in nursing school when I was dealing with the most evil clinical instructor. She wrote me letters of recommendation that had “Hire her!” hand written at the bottom.

Teachers are varied in their influences and I have had many in my extended school life. I’m sure that there are teachers in my past that might have been “better” but these two made an impact.

Day 1: What I like people to call me

Generally with a name like Kirby one doesn’t need another name. Most people call me Kirby. I have also been Kirbs, Kirbina, Coach Kirby, Nurse Kirby. That’s not very interesting. Oh well.

I’m going to do this and remember to do it. I will.

I’m going to give this a try. I should at least *try* to invest some time in my own blog.

I love lists. And challenges. So I’m going to attempt this.

Oooo I’m going to do this.

Remember when I used to blog…

I forgot about blogging for a while. I have decided to return to my “What I love about Austin” theme.

Right now I love 80 degree days in February. We have had the most beautiful weather for the last week and it makes me not want to go to work.

My middle name is Kirby. When I was a kid my dad got me Kirby’s Dream Land for my Game Boy and I’ve loved the character ever since.

Should get this tattoo also?

What I love about Austin day 3

I love the close proximity to a magical place filled with history, white trash and copious blended beverages. New Orleans here I come!

What I love about Austin Day 2

I love TexMex. The plethora of delicious TexMex style food that is available here is amazing. From Chuy’s to El Chile, this stuff kicks ass! I just wished I liked margaritas.
